We thought of presenting Goa differently.
Not like the other destinations where “details” are required on how to reach and when to go and what to see. If you want to reach Goa from anywhere in India or across the world, just close your eyes and follow the whiff of feni (the local Goan brew), the chant of the lapping waves and the sound of “rave” and “buddha-bar” and “techno” from its resplendent shores! For those with a cold or with not too keen a sense of music OR who would like their Geography served on a platter, well, it”s that gorgeous land of beauty and plenty on the Western coast of India sandwiched between the state of Maharashtra to the North & Karnataka to the South and East. The West opens out to the Arabian Sea that is almost single handedly responsible for making GOAAAAH!
Best Time to Visit: When to go there depends entirely on what you seek. October to March is the “season” with hordes of beach bummers, beach babes (not necessarily PYT”s), hulk hogans, Kashmiri rip off artists, sun-tan specialists & amateurs, oglers, corporate wannabes, assorted musicians, film crews and celebrities, water sports enthusiasts, beer guzzlers, hustlers, simple holy people (most friends we know fall into this category) etc. all making a bee-line for Goa. The days are pleasant and even in December and January one does not need a warm cover. April and May are hot months with a blazing sun (ideal for the hard core sun-tan specialists). June to September is the rainy season when the sun disappears for days (along with the sun tan enthusiasts who disappear for months). Forget the sea. Just soak in the lushness of nature and the paddy fields.
Hotels charge peak rates from Oct to March, reaching the summit during Christmas and New Year. April to September is when rooms get discounted by up to 50%. |
