Legend has it their first king was a twelfth-century Sinhalese prince who landed here on a honeymoon sail and never left. And we weren't suprised on that count. Because Maldives does inspire similar escapist fantasies. Romantic, tucked away from the rigours of everyday stress, the island promises paradise - that's the broucher word for it.
But for us, the white sand, the emerald water, the corals...calling it paradise just seems a tad bit too mild.
For us, If there was heaven, then this would be the starting point...
