Tour to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar
Ode to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar
'At the center of the earth, there stands a great mountain,
Lord of Snows, majestic, rooted in the sea,
Its summit wreathed in clouds,
A measuring rod for all creation.'
- Kalidasa (4th Century AD)
“It is not an exaggeration to say that at the sight of Manasa my mind danced with wonder and ecstasy and forgot itself.
Like a drunkard I somehow went and sat on a nearby flat rock with my mind totally intoxicated..
I sat there for a long time drinking with my eyes the ethereal beauty of “Saro Devi” of whom I had only heard till now!
- Param Pujya Gurudev Swami Tapovanam Maharaj
KAILASH MANASAROVAR YATRA - 2012

Lake Manasarovar
The tour to Mt.Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is considered the most sacred and revered pilgrimage for Hindus, Jains and Buddhists alike. Travels in the subcontinent can”t get remoter, tougher or more spiritual than this incredible journey to Mt. Kailash in Tibet - the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Mt.Kailash claimed to be the apex of the Hindu religious axis, is also one of the highest mountains in Tibet at 22,022 feet. Lake Manasarovar, at 14,950 feet is also said to be one of the highest fresh water lakes in the world.
Note: We are pleased to inform all travellers that the road from Zangmu to Darchen is now complete. While this augurs well for the increased number of tourists who will travel to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar this year, it also raises questions about the impact this will have on the fragile eco system of the place and the ability of the Chinese Govt/Local Tibetan tourist authority to manage the garbage that every group is likely to leave behind. The Wanderers believe in the old adage - "Leave nothing behind but footprints" on this delicate eco system and will do whatever is necessary on their trips to ensure that we practice responsible tourism in Tibet.
