Itinerary details for "8 Days Kenya Highlights tour package"

Day 1: Nairobi

Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi you will be met and assisted by our representative for transfer to your hotel where you will be assisted with the check in formalities. Afternoon, after a pre-safari briefing and depending on your arrival schedule, depart for a panoramic city tour. View the parliament buildings, Kenyatta International conference centre and then proceed to the view point for breathtaking view of the city. Enjoy Indian dinner tonight. Return to your hotel. Overnight at Nairobi.

Day 2: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve & Buffalo Springs Game Reserve

After breakfast, drive down to the Samburu National Reserve and Buffalo Springs Game Reserve. These two reserves are located back to back and offer spectacular vistas of rounded rugged hills and undulating plains. Samburu National Reserve lies north of the Uaso Nyiro River, while Buffalo Springs National Reserve lies to the south.

With a magnificent background of jagged, purple mountains, they provide some of the best and most colourful game viewing in the country. The tranquil Uaso Nyiro River provides a natural habitat for crocodiles. Long necked gerenuk, grevy's zebra and graceful reticulated giraffe found here are not found in the less arid areas.

Elephants seek solace and contentment in the shallow waters of this river, which together with Buffalo Springs, supports a large variety of African mammals, cheetahs and leopards, being particularly well represented.

Arrive for lunch at your lodge. After lunch, set out on a game drive until sunset. Return to your lodge. Freshen up and enjoy dinner. Overnight at Samburu.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve & Buffalo Springs Game Reserve

Today after breakfast, enjoy a full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. Samburu National Reserve is one of the lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming with life. Situated alongside the Uaso Nyiro River, there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding savannah plains. The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the beisa oryx. These are also referred to as Samburu Special Five.

The reserve is also popular for its large number of elephants. Large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah are an important attraction. Kamunyak the miracle lioness that adopted the baby oryx is a resident in the reserve.

Meals and overnight at Samburu.

Day 4: Samburu National Reserve - Aberdare National Park

After breakfast, embark on a drive to the Aberdares region, a beautiful mountain range in the central highlands of Kenya. On arrival in your Lodge you, check in and enjoy lunch at the Aberdare Country Club. Dinner and overnight at Aberdare National Park.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara National G.R

Get up early today because you have to depart, after an early breakfast, for Masai Mara National Reserve.drive down to the Masai Mara National Reserve offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance such as existed a century ago. Arrive for lunch at your lodge.

Afternoon go on a game drive in search of Buffaloes, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephants and other plain’s game. Game drives take you close to the wildlife rich spots in the Maasai Mara. This gives you an opportunity to view wild animals in their natural habitat as they go about their daily activities. Return to your lodge after the drive. Meals and overnight at Masai Mara.

Day 7: Masai Mara National G.R

Early morning game drive before the dawn is perfect start for the day. Masai Mara is the reason why people come to Kenya in the first place. One look is enough to explain its appeal. This is classic African savanna, with the sheer destiny of wildlife. Or see the landscape from a different view.

Today instead of the morning game drive, you can also opt for a spectacular Balloon Ride across the Masai Mara. This safari begins in the pre dawn hours and towards the end of the safari, you rise to a height of 1500 feet for a panoramic view of the twisting Mara River and the savannah below.

Return to your lodge for a late breakfast after which you can enjoy the mid-morning game. Return to your lodge for lunch. Later depart for an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Return to your lodge for dinner. Overnight at Masai Mara.

Day 8: Masai Mara National G.R. – Nairobi - Airport

After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi. Arrive and have lunch on your own. Later in the afternoon, go on a shopping tour of Nairobi. The city market on Muindi Mbingu Street has a good range of items from souvenir kiondo (colorful woven sisal bags), jewelry, wood, and soapstone carvings to everyday goods like meat, fish, and fruits. Masai market, which is an informal market, offers beaded jewelry, gourds, baskets, and other Masai crafts. More upscale handicrafts, artwork, and jewelry from all over Africa can be found at the African Heritage Center on Kenyatta Avenue.

The appropriately named Biashara (Business) Street is the core of downtown Nairobi's shopping district. It is made up of endless small shops and cafes. In the Langata area, the Ostrich Park has a craft center with an artisan's workshop where passersby can see items being made and enjoy a nice cafe. The Yaya and Sarit Centers are well-known shopping malls located outside of the city center.

After the tour you are dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your flight back home.
