Day 1: Chandigarh- Pragpur - 3 hrs
Pick up from Chandigarh Airport and drive to Pragpur. Stay at The Judge”s Court, a Country Manor at an elevation of 2000 ft in Kangra Valley. This heritage property has an ancestral cottage and Country Manor built by Bhandari Ram for his son Justice Sir Jai Lal. Lovingly restored to its former glory, it is one of the most exclusive places in Himachal. Explore the heritage village of Pragpur. Overnight at TPragpur.
Day 2: Leave for Palampur / Mcleodganj / Dharamshala with sightseeing en route- 3 hrs
Leave after an early breakfast. Visit the Jwalamukhi Temple, considered as one of the most sacred temples of North India. There is no idol in this picturesquely located temple, only the flame that ignites the temple is considered as manifestation of the Goddess. You can visit the Chintpurni Temple Dharamshala Mahanta, Kangra Fort and Haripur, the cradle of the Kangra school of Paintings. The Jwalamukhi Temple & Kangra Fort is must-see. If you have time you can do the other sights as well. Overnight at Palampur/ Mcleodganj/Dharamshala.
Optional Excursions around Pragpur:
"Dada Siba - Chinor" reached by a scenic road. "Dada Siba" has an old Temple with beautiful Kangra murals on the inner walls and impressive ruins. Chinor has water mills to grind corn. "River Beas" at Chamba- Patan near Garli flows through beautiful countryside. Famous for Mahaseer fishing
The road leads to Chamba-Pattan on the banks of river Beas where boat rides are possible. "Meri" (Baba Bharwagh Singh) for exorcising the evil spirit "Masroor" Rock cut Temples of the style of Ellora.
Day 3: Palampur Sightseeing
Explore Baijnath Temple - A temple is dedicated to Shiva Vaidyanatha, associated with mythology. It is supposed be the temple where Ravana Worshipped shiva to gain is thronged with pilgrims at the festival of Shivratri.
Sobha Singh Art Gallery and The Andretta Pottery Society: (Andretta is 13 kms from Palampur) nearby specializes in ethnic clay pottery and holds classes for students.
Must See:
The Losel Doll Museum. The museum displays minutely executed replicas of intricately crafted traditional costumes. The 140 characters in the museum collections, exhibited in 10 displays
Chamunda Mata Temple: Located at the Baner Stream to the backdrop of Dhauladhar Mountains on reaching the Temple a glorious view of Dhauladhar on three sides and Baner, Khud, Pathiar and the Lahala forest on the other side. Behind the temple is a cave where a natural stone 'Lingam' is worshipped as manifestation of Lord Shiva.
Day 4: Palampur Sightseeing or Relaxation
Either relax at Palampur or complete the remaining excursions. A wonderful place to chill out with walks, village trips or with just a good book to read.
Optional Excursions: Trihund peak/Udichi Huts: (77 kms), Just below the snowline lies the picturesque locale the Trihund peak afoot of the perpetually snowclad Dhauladhar and height of 2,827 meters. The snowline starts at the Iilaqa-5kms from Trihund and affords breathtaking view of snow above the valley below. It is a popular picnic and trekking spot with its breathtaking views and lovely forest rest house (about 10kms).
Another place to visits is Kunal Pathari. Not far Kotwali Bazaar is the Little Rock temple dedicated to the local goddess (about 3kms away).
Dall lake: (71 kms from Taragrah), The pretty lake is a picturesque picnic spot surrounded by forest of pine and connected with a motorable road. It is good base for those who wish to do some trekking. Dall lake not so large as its illustrious namesake in Kashmir, the lake lying admit the hill and surrounded by fir trees, has certain charms all of its own close to the cantonment, the annual fair in September (about 11 kms away),is largely attended by gaddis and other hillmen. It also provides good trekking base.
For the peace lovers, there lies a tranquil ashram complex set up by a great exponent of the Gita-Swami Chim- ayananda also known as Chinmaya Tapovan.
Tashijong Monastery: (3 kms) where you could see the Tibetian Carpet Weaving factory and Tanka paintings. You could also meet the 19 Year old incarnated guru.
Dharamshala: (60 kms) Pine Forest covers the hills sides and numerous streams cut a path through them allowing for exciting opportunities for fishing. Here is a hill resort so marvelously alive, yet so contemplative, that the Dalai Lama the leader of the Buddhist faith has made it his residence.
Day 5: Palampur - Dalhousie
After an early breakfast depart around 8 am for Dalhousie - lunch can be had en-route at a number of quaint little dhabas. Reach Dalhousie approx around 3 or 4 pm. Relax and watch the sunset from the lovely lawn.
Dalhousie is a quaint hill station that offers magnificent views of the Chamba Valley and the spectacular Dhauladhar range. Named after Lord Dalhousie, the erstwhile Governor of Punjab, Dalhousie still retains its old world British charm and a lush green cover of pine, deodar and oak trees that adorn its winding roads and Valleys.
Overnight at Dalhousie.
Day 6: Dalhousie Sightseeing
Visit the Khajjiar, Chamba and Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary. Lunch can be had in the small restaurants or dhabas that are found everywhere.
The Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary has barking deer, ghoral, Himalayan black bear and large avifauna population. Other sights include the beautiful churches, Bakrota, Panchpula and Bara Pathar. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Dalhousie Relaxation or Sightseeing
Relax or complete excursion of Chamba and Khajjiar.
From the road the turf slopes away, gently, into a great, green, bowl hemmed in by the dark sentinels of the deodar trees, the revered cedars of the Himalayas. Local sightseeing: Khajjiar meadow, Lakshmi Narayan & Chamundadevi Temples, Bhuri Museum and many more. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Dalhousie- Amritsar
Leave Dalhousie early in the morning by 8 am. Arrive at Amritsar and check into your hotel. Proceed to Wagah border. Located on the Indo-Pakistan border, Wagah is 35 kilometres from the Amritsar main town.
Must watch: The change of guards and the flag hoisting and lowering activities which are done with great skill and precision by the border security forces of both the countries. A site you cannot afford to miss.
A visit to the Golden Temple in the evening during sunset. Overnight at hotel.
Day 9: Amritsar Depart
If time permits, visit the Golden Temple in the morning and transfer for return flight to onward destination.
